Simply superb on download.
Doesn’t look old enough to be free of dams supervision. Was she around?
Great job, Don!

I have always admired your proficiency with, and awareness of the DOF in your compositions. Your command of that aspect, is at the same time, both prominent and subtle.
The pose is wonderful and the stare is intense without being threatening. Great focus and DOF. Good colour and density. What's not to like? My only niggle is that I wish I could see the front paws, but sinch the back paws are cropped out also, it does make for a closer portrait.
Cannot think of a thing to say about how this might have been improved.

I love animal shots. I think this is a very nice shot but, if it were mine, I would have worked a bit on the face of the animal to bring out lighter tones and to strengthen the shot in the area of the face. Perhaps sharpness, maybe clarity. I would have kept the surrounding area darker than the main subject. I would also have emphasized the eyes with sharpness and lightness.

Hi Dave,
You're right - as usual. This little lady had just spent about 30 minutes being groomed by her mother. I think some of her fur is still damp.

I appreciate your comments. However, I am more about the wildlife experience and capturing the experience than I am about tweaking it to perfection. I'm sure all of your ideas would result in a better final product. Go ahead and see what you can do and PM me the results.
What a great moment. I am jealous...was in SA and never saw a leopard. You cannot control the time of day of the capture, but I really like the light. The eyes are spot on in focus. Excellent. I downloaded the shot and see that, like me, you are one of the few "evil geniuses" who use m43 gear. It is perfect for safari. You had a pro lens, if I read right, and it was crystal clear. Well done.
As is our custom in this forum (we are all trying to get better, which is why we are here), I agree that some added contrast, sharpening might make the cat stand out a bit more. The paws would be nice if possible. I notice the one piece of tall grass behind the whiskers, which would be great to get rid off...I don't have the PS skills to do so..I tried and failed...maybe someone with more skills? Yes, it is a bit manipulative to get rid of some grass, but see what you think.
Overall, I think it is a wonderful shot.
Happy shooting to a fellow m43 shooter!
