This is an effort to create an old-school "portrait" kind of feeling with the oil paint effect and the old-style frame. The actual image is of an eagle on the frozen pond in my backyard. The lighting was kind of hinky and the subject fairly far away, so I thought I'd give this idea a go. Whaddya think?
Depends on what you are aiming for. As a sellable pic, it's good, although a better composition would have the eagle right of center, with space to look into.
Personally, I'd like to see that composition as a pure photo, post processed as well as possible. Less artsy for me, but more moving.
I think the frame is quite beautiful. It's big and complex, but somehow doesn't overpower the image. Perhaps it's because of the straight lines?
I feel the subject isn't as strong as could be, though. You aren't close enough for what I'd consider a true portrait, yet there is also no information as to surroundings other than snow. I'd love to see this technique and frame with a different image.
Below is with color space sRGB. Be sure to use that online if you want your thumbnails to show true colors. This one isn't as obvious as some unless you compare side by side
Thanks for posting!

Very good, but I think that it would look even better if there was more space in front and less behind...
I think it is a nice piece of artwork, although my brain would prefer the eagle to be facing to the right.
Thank you all for your helpful comments! I agree there should be more space in front of the eagle, but the angle I was shooting from put a large tree exactly in that spot, and it overpowered everything else! When I cropped the tree out, that was the space that was left. It was intended to be a rather primitive rendition, and not necessarily an "accurate" portrait of the regal bird. And I do note the sRGB color setting should be used - I didn't do that on this one, because, hey...I forgot!
