Our cruise ship spent a couple of days in Halong Bay, now a UNESCO World Heritage site and we had the opportunity to tour the famous islands. Located in the Gulf of Tonkin near Haiphong Harbor, it includes between 1600 & 2000 limestone islands and islets with 99% of the islands uninhabitable.
As usual, woke up to a cloudy, overcast misty morning that lasted all day, tough day for photographing.
Seems it was that way the entire time we were in northern Vietnam and Hong Kong (Gulf of Tonkin & South China Sea). Since it was a bucket list for Vietnam, we took the tour. Stunning, beautiful are to mild of words for this place, just a calm, quiet, peaceful place. As usual, beautiful places will draw visitors and the numbers here continue to rise exponentially. The city of Halong Bay is similar now to all other coastal cities in Vietnam after the war, modern, beautiful and full of resorts. You'll see everything in Halong Bay from tour boats to overnight boats to fishing boats to speed boats. However, I was impressed to see the Vietnamese police patrolling the waters of the bay.
If you go to Vietnam and don't see Halong Bay, IMHO, you haven't seen Vietnam.
Great set. Thanks for taking us there.
Nice set! Glad you went despite the mist - it made interesting shots.
Thanks Richard, hope you enjoyed them.

Thanks and that's exactly what the wife said....
Excellent series. Looks like you had a wonderful trip.
Very nice set. Thanks for posting. We were there a few years ago - similar weather, but even worse.
You made the most of it. Well done! Cheers

Thanks Dennis, absolutely a great cruise and it was awesome to see the progress Vietnam has made since the 80's and after the war (60's since I was there).

Appreciate the comment Dr Nikon, yes it was cloudy & grey but that's the weather, deal with it and enjoy the time there, which we thoroughly did.
Great shots, thank s for sharing.
