Learned alot of what not to do. By the end of the summer I should be at fairly decent level of proficient. Overall, for my 1st time out, I was pleased with the results. Thank you..

I bet you will be able to get some nice shots. Low light pollution. Next time out I am going boost the ISO to 3200 try delay with 10sec and 15sec per a recommendation I received. Thought I would mention, it may help.

I forgot to mention. I use "Photo Pills, great app to finding the Milky way. It does have a little curve, but many many features I still need to explore.

Nice job. As one who ALWAYS seems to have a problem with this, just how did you open the lens to 1.8 and hold the .15 second exposure? (My stars would be DANCING across the night sky!!)

I used a Nikon 20mm lens that has a f1.8. I was shooting in manual mode so I was able to make all my camera adjustments accordingly.
I also used live view which helps alot especially when finding the focus at infinity.( which at first was a learning curve). I used a Nikon D850 with Auto ISO. I am still new to this; hopefully this helps.

Nice Shot. I picked up a used copy of Jennifer Wu and James Martin's book Night Sky. https://www.amazon.com/Photography-Night-Field-Guide-Shooting-ebook/dp/B00IUP9NP0/ref=dp_kinw_strp_1

Nice job of getting both some nice ground light and a good rendering of the Milky Way.
