On our first trip to Merritt Island about six years ago we stopped at the visitor center and there were many at their bird feeder located to the left of the rear door leading to the boardwalk tour through the marsh but have never been able to catch them at that location since. Wish we were down now! Take care
Some days are better than others! I usually skip the visitors center and make a couple passes on Black Point Drive. I typically come onto the Merritt Island from I-95 to Rt 406, Rt 402 and over the A Max Memorial Parkway bridge. Once over the bridge, there are some great dirt roads that can be excellent for birding. You can spend a couple hours looping around! Gator Creek Trail, etc.
