Hope someone has a solution, because I am at my wit's end. Sigma DL Hyperzoom Macro 28-200mm f3.5-5.6. Bought it used. Appears to be functioning perfectly and cosmetically like new. One problem: I can't figure out how to get it to do macro. The closest it will focus now is about 16" with results not even close to what would be called "macro." The attached photo of the lens barrel fully extended (200mm) may help. PLEASE - I don't want to have to throw it out the window! MANY THANKS! >Alan

As I read the spec, the minimum focusing distance is 50 cm (19.7”). The term “macro” has historically been used pretty loosely by some manufacturers.

What focal length is it when only the lines for 1:12 are visible?

I think LongshDow is correct. Move your focal length to the macro mark and I bet your focus ring will be unlocked for extra rotation

Like SnappyHappy thought, do you get extra twist on the focus ring then?
What's the closest you can focus at 35mm?

Haha. YEARS, and years ago when spell chunkers first came into use, I wrote something for Barclay Woods Homeowners Assoc. It wanted to know if I meant "Broccoli Woods", Almost fell off my chair laughing!

From Imaging Resource review: ( https://www.imaging-resource.com/lenses/sigma/28-200mm-f3.5-5.6-aspherical-if-macro/review/)

“At the 200mm telephoto setting, the lens is capable of macro photography with a 1:3.8 maximum magnification. The minimum focusing distance is 48cm at all zoom settings. A magnification scale displayed on the lens barrel.”
