"I'm Back" lets you use film SLRs to shoot digitally.

So, it's obviously clearly unmistakable
that the resurgence of film has toadally
massacred the digital camera market.

Save them Dixie cups ....

.

Demand for film (esp. B&W film) is increasing. Demand for digital
cameras declined by over 70% over the last decade and currently is flat
or nearly so.

Silly rhetoric won't change those facts.

And to experienced people who are familiar with business and
econmics, those facts are significant.

Well, again, it all depends. The "sin of omission" is usually present.
Most companies are kinda like rainbows. Light at the top, dark at the bottom.
Let's say B&H has a sales force of hard working, educated, experienced, and productive people.
Let's say their Marketing Dept is the same. And their Engineering. And Repair.
Let's say their Shipping and Receiving Dept are filled with cheap expendable labor.
Let's say the Shipping and Receiving Dept has it's own breakroom and bathrooms for convenience.
And that these people are discouraged from wandering around, distracting the office workers. Who are on phones, on line and/ or on schedule. Different schedules for different time zones (I've gone to work in SoCal at 4:30 am to be ready for the East Coast folk). And if that guy from the loading dock is over *here* he's *not* at work. Or working.
Black, white, red green or blue. You can't do your job, no job for you.
< Failure to understand and accomodate the dive... (show quote)

Most companies are white on top, brown on the bottom.
Doesn't sound like a rainbow to me.

In my experience at least, the guy at the top is more likely to be
a crook--and an absolute bastard-- then the guys at the bottom.

But I have known a couple of good, decent CEOs or owners of
large private companies, so they do exist. But you know the saying:
"power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".

As I recall, that's a slight but significant misquote of Lord Acton:

"Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely."

It should be engraved over every courthouse door, right next to "Obedience to Law is Liberty", which is likely already there.

Film and digital are, to me, two very different beasts. For me, a significant part of film is the mystique of the darkroom time. Until they come up with an affordable way to convert my 645s and Blads to high quality digital, I will continue to use both.

Yup: film and digital are different media. Acrylics didn't replace oils
and MS Paint didn't replace brush and canvas..

Unfortunately, Joe Consumer doesn't realize this, and only values
convenience and instant gratification. And electronics companies
are happy to oblige.

Technology is amazing: not can you now have a camera in your phone--
you can have a phone in your shoe (like Maxwell Smart)!

I agree with you. Maybe what I created was a new technique of "painting" ... Since we have, film, digital, Lomo, Pinhole, mobile, gopro and all this does the same thing "record an image and freeze a moment". I'm back was not created to replace anything (even though Dsrl has solved this for more than 20 years ... but I'm Back was born as a new technique to get a different result and how I personally started my professional career as a draftsman I used, gouache, ecoline, oil, airbrush and colored pencils as tools to illustrate, and today I use 3d programs to illustrate. These are different things but how are you said, are different techno and should be admired for what they are and not compared for what they are not!

Don't bother Googling for "I'm Back". Might as well have called it "And The".

But to make it into the Inferior Substitute Hall of Fame, a product has to have
a cutesy name, like Kool-Aid or Cheez-Whiz. But it also has to be unique.

Introducing Bak-Whiz! Why not?

I had no problem Googling "I'm Back".
Needs an extra key word or two and it
works immediately.

BP, you do love to set up a straw man.

OTOH, I agree with you about naming
products lately. Amusing in a way, but
with every new chi-chi biz going for it,
the "kewtsie impact" faded long ago.

Credit to "I'm Back" ... I like puns and
triple entendres :-)

Easy, type "Im Back digital back" you find us! We are one of the first! Lately just type I'm Back or digital back, and we're already there! Imagine if we had a "cute" name .... how would be our presence in google! ;-)

As far as fame is concerned, we are well aware of more than 150 blogs that talk about our product, (highlight for Petapixel, Nikon rumors, leica rumors, canon rumors, dpreview ...) prize in photokina 2018 together with fujifilm and panasonic e 2 place in Switzerland as the best startup idea ... and the most important was the invitation from engineer and manager producer of Leica M Jesko Von Oeynhausen and optical engineer Peter Karbe of the optics used by Leica for a very informal meeting in the room vip of the Leica stand at Photokina 2018 ... just to get to know the I'm Back! We are small but proud of our hard work! ;-)

Thank you Samuel for taking the time to visit our forum and letting us know something about your product and your self.
I hope to try your digital back out when it becomes available here.
I like trying out different techniques and products involving photography.
I realize this not a serious photography tool, but something to have fun with like lensbaby products.

That doesn't mean it might not be something fun to play with.

Kind of reminds me of an item marketed several years ago towards cruising sailors who feared being attacked by pirates in the Caribbean. It was called the "Machete Stopper" Basically it consisted of a steel insert for flare guns into which a single round of pistol caliber ammunition could be inserted and fired. It was meant to bypass of laws of said countries against ownership of firearms by visiting foreign nationals. It seemed to make sense at first as the picture below shows. When removed from the flare gun and tossed into a dirty toolbox, the insert could easily be mistaken for a spare engine part. It never caught on. Even if customs didn't notice the insert, what do you do with the ammo? Moreover, a single shot "pistol" would be of little help against a boatload of pirates armed with AK 47s. I would also be afraid of that thing blowing up in my face were I to fire anything larger than a 22.
