The first accident came last October 2018. It happened in Indonesia with 189 passengers aboard, and crashed minutes after an erratic takeoff. This past Sunday, the Ethiopian Airlines 737 Max 8 crashed shortly after takeoff, with 157 passengers aboard. The pilot had 8000 hours of flight time, and sent out a distress call shortly before the crash. The crash victims were from 35 countries, including Americans, and 22 employees of the United Nations Affiliated Agencies. China, which ordered 96 of the 737 Max 8 Aircrafts, has now grounded all of them, as well as Indonesia. The Flight Data Recorder, and Cockpit Voice Recorder have been recovered from the Ethiopian Crash. We don't know yet, if it is pilot error, or a problem with certain Boeing 737 Max 8 Aircrafts. But, it has to be resolved. And, I hope it can be determined, what is the cause of this happening, shortly after takeoff. The Ethiopian government, said it is heartsick over this deadly crash.

Ah ... I’ve just finished episode 3 of The Widow, on Amazon Prime Video, which is the series I believe you’re talking about. Great series so far.

I haven’t flown in a couple years, but literally last Thursday flew on a Southwest 737 MAX plane from Reno to Oakland. If I had heard about these crashes I never would have flown on that plane.

On September 11, 2001 I was scheduled to fly to New York on business. My itinerary had me returning back to San Francisco on United flight 93 leaving out of Newark on September 13. I still shutter when I think about it.

Another reason to keep on cruising!

I'm not surprised. Two planes of the same model. And having 346 fatalities between the two, in just 5 months, is not good news. Especially, if it is not terrorism, or pilot errors. There were 8 Americans on that Ethiopian Airliner.

Yes, that is the series I was referring to. I finished it a couple days ago. It was very good. I kept guessing how it would end but didn't get it right until the last episode. Have fun.

I hate to be “just negative” but I would not be surprised when we hear that innocent lives will be considered worth loosing, in order to GET American targets “WORTH GETTING” at any cause, regardless of the innocents. It's down to Boeing, they didn't pass on the full information that pilots should have be told concerning the handling of this new aircraft during take off.
Boeing won't admit it of course it will all be covered up by their corrupt officials.

My grandson flies Boeing 737s and being concerned, I wrote to him following the latest crash. Here is a relevant part of his response to me:
“From what I’ve read, it all sounds very similar to the lion air accident. At ***** we do have some of these aircraft, although I’m yet to fly one. After the lion air accident, we were issued with guidance on how to deal with unreliable airspeed and elevator trim problems. Whether this info also got through to the Ethiopian pilots, I don’t know. At ****** we have been reassured that if the correct actions are taken, it is a very manageable problem and not a safety threat. I’m sure as an airline we’ll receive more information in the coming days but rest assured, we’ll only fly the aircraft if it’s safe.”

Interesting comments. America is sending a team of disaster experts to Ethiopia, as the News indicated, to investigate what may have been the cause(s) of this deadly crash. The Black Box has been recovered, but is damaged.

Yes, it's big news around the world. It must be more than a coincidence that two samples of the same plane crashed in similar circumstances. A cause and solution will be found, but how much of the truth will the public ever hear?

The cause and the solution are the main things. To have 346 fatalities in 5 months, is excessive. And to think, how many families are affected by these crashes. Same model aircrafts. Same circumstances.
