Ready for your favorite springtime activity

It's still 2 weeks to official spring but what the heck. Let's think spring already. Getting sick and tired of this brutal winter. (And, I don't think he's done, yet.)

In HD, a video program I created about a favorite springtime activity that many enjoy doing. You have to watch it to find out. The show is a shade under 5 minutes long. I think you'll like it. So, are you ready for spring?

Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dJpSrOGVP0

Hope you like it. Thanks for watching.

You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

The production is made up of a crew of 3 (I, me, and myself). Did all the research, collecting items, some post-processing, arranging, editing, info or trivia captions, reading and proofreading, selection of music theme, etc.

incidentally, in your home state, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mount Vernon, WA is rated as one of the best festivals of its kind in the world. It takes place in the whole month of April 2019. If you get a chance to visit the festival, please take photos and share with us.

We are about 45 minutes from Mount Vernon. Every other year or so we cruize down for a family get-together and photo opt. A little crowded for this old country boy. I hear that the tulip crop is not near as large as in earlier times. I moved up here from Utah about eight years ago.
We are certainly blessed to live in a beautiful country. By the way, I spent a little time driving a semi through your state after I sold my business about fifteen years ago. Loved the neat farms with the silos etc. I hauled raw cheese from Tempe AZ to GreenBay. Then would haul Wisconsin cheese back to Utah. The cheese would then be distributed all over the western states.
Thank you again for creating such a stunning production. I can't wait to show it to Marilyn.

A wonderful video of tulips around the world. I hadn't thought about tulips in India and Asia, so I learned something new. I was glad to see Mt Vernon, WA included as I have been there numerous times and will be in Amsterdam in April on my way to Tanzania. Also planning a trip to WI in October for a family wedding gathering.

Again, thanks for posting a prelude to spring.

Reviews I read seem to indicate that Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in Mt. Vernon, WA is topnotch in presentation. Of course, Amsterdam's Tulip Festival is the mother lode. Aside from the ones I featured in the video, there are many more tulip festivals in the US (e.g., Baltimore's, Albany, NY, etc.) and around the world. I only included enough to synchronize with the music and not to make it too long and more BORING.

Where about in WI for your family wedding gathering? Just curious.

Thanks for watching.

Well, kinda. If you watch the video again, the one featuring the Tesselaar Tulip Festival in Australia, you can see a photo of a couple in a "Two Lips" encounter (or may be four lips).

Thanks for watching. Say, "Hello" to Spring with a bunch of tulips (and two lips?).

My granddaughter's fiancé's family live in and around Fon du Lac and that it is the site of the reception. My wife and plan to fly to Milwaukie most likely and rent a car. After the weekend of activities, we are tentatively planning to drive north and catch the fall color along the lake shore. (mid-October timing) I would like to go all the way to the MI UP, but we haven't mapped it all out yet. Do you have suggestions? Thanks,

Fond du Lac is a stone throw away from my neck of the wood (near Milwaukee). Say, about an hour (I drive slow). Mid-October is perfect timing to take colorful fall colors. By late October and early November, the show is over. MI UP is one such place to experience the beauty of Fall and of course, take great pictures.

Don't forget to look into the Door County, WI area which is another excellent place to spend at least 2-3 days in the FALL. It's about close to 4 hour drive from Milwaukee. (Again, I drive slow). If or when you get serious about this place, make arrangement for hotel reservation ASAP. They tend to get booked fast if you plan to come in October. If you're looking for awesome fall colors, Door County will not disappoint.

While you're in Fond du Lac, see if you can drop by Holy Hill Basilica. Half a day visit should be sufficient. But if you plan to take photos of the fall colors, you may need a full day. If you can climb the church tower (178 steps) where you can get an even better vantage view for the Fall coloroma, do it. (If I can do it, anybody can. But caution - the stairs get narrower as you get to the top. And, nope! No hunchback creature lives there.) Stroll around and take more Fall color photos where the Stations of the Cross are (goes uphill depending on where you start). Holy Hill Basilica is about 30 minutes from Milwaukee (may be about halfway Milwaukee and Fond du Lac via Highway 45). The Tower is closed if its too windy and closes for the year at the end of October. BTW, avoid weekends. Lots of people on pilgrimages from different parts of WI and neighboring state (e.g., IL).

If you have half day to spare, drive by the Horicon Marsh, a place for the birds (literally). Bring your tripod and an extra reach lens. Caution: Follow strict speed limit. Be ready to give them birds a brake. I'm sure your granddaughter fiance's family would know more about these places. I believe it's about 30-45 minutes drive from Fond du Lac.

Don't hesitate to PM me if you need some kinda of help.

Wonderful information about fall in WI. We plan on about 10 days for the trip, so you give us many opportunities. I copied you input into a Word doc for future reference. Thanks so much.
