What kind of camera-specific batteries does Duracell make? I have not seen Duracell camera batteries.

Unless you are talking about AA and AA cells, alkaline, lithium and rechargeables, which are not "for cameras', but for ANY use.

A few years ago my Canon 420EX flash decided to not turn on after lengthy lack-of-use, with batteries in it. Seeing there was no corrosion, testing the batteries and trying other batteries, I sent it to a repair service with the batteries (Duracell) in it to see if it was worth fixing.
They sent it back working, at no charge, just telling me the batteries had caused a barely-visible non-conductive deposit on the terminals. They recommended not using Duracells, because they are prone to doing this, and to stick with Energizers.

Anyone else ever heard this?

I don't know. I liked Duracells when they were under Mallory but I don't like them now.

I generally stick to batteries from the camera manufacturer. However, I chanced across a link online to a Duracell battery that is 50% the cost of the manufacturer's battery for one of my cameras. With Duracell being a name brand, I wonder if it’s worth spending the extra money on OEM? Does anyone have any experience with Duracell brand batteries made for cameras, or in general just have thoughts to share?

Thanks!

You have a camera that uses AA or AAA batteries and not Li-ion? Say it ain't so!

At what cost? The cost of the company agreeing to repair the damaged camera at no charge because it finds no fault with the customer for the malfunction. Leaving the non-OEM batteries in the camera when sending it off for repair is not a wise decision.

I’m talking about the cost of your integrity.

It ain’t. The Duracell was a DSLR style battery.

This particular one was for the Lumix G7.

There is a huge difference from batteries from say Costco and battery store like Batteries Plus Inc. You pay double for their batteries but they last 4 or 5 times longer and I would imagine they have a more durable casing. Check them out . . I think they are Nationwide. Camera Manufactures would also use these batteries.

I picked up about 12 (whatever a multiple of their package contents) AAA from Ikea. They were mentioned on Ugly a while back; I've not had any problems with them. I didn't know Ikea had batteries and am quite happy with their cost and utility.

Long time ago I tried some Duracell batteries in some of my flashes, they were just crap!

My Nikon Bridge camera, the Coolpix L840, which came out around 2015, takes 4 each AA batteries. Alkaline or rechargeable types. And I have a Flash that uses AA batteries too. My Nikon DSLR uses a different battery. Naturally.

I usually use Duracell and they seem to last.

Duracell is notorious for leakage... Their AA and AAA batteries anyway...

It used to be that Duracell was the best of the pack for battery quality. Lately, I have noticed the same thing that the AA and AAA sizes do indeed leak as badly as Energizers. I have been trying out Vartum brand from Germany and they seem to do very well at maintaining their integrity and not leaking. I don't know if Duracell was sold to another company, but their quality has certainly gone downhill quickly. I used to use RadioShack batteries in my flashes because they got used up rather quickly during a photo session and they were so much less expensive (approx 50 cents per battery).

So for now, it's Vartum.

I would certainly try the Duracells. Leakage doesn't seem to be as big a problem with the lithium Ion batteries as it was with the Alkaline cells.

I have several Energizer batteries I got ages ago for my first digital camera, a Sony R1. Fewer shots, shorter shelf life, not recommended.
