Why was it disappointing?

I've been going to the flower show for a long time; years before it was moved to the convention center. I've attended spectacular shows and some pretty darn boring shows. To me a flower show really should be about the flowers, the colors and the variety, not about landscaping. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad show, it just wasn't all that spectacular. Way too many vendors, many of which had absolutely nothing to do with flowers or horticulture. Of all the shows I've attended in recent memory, I don't recall any that had as much empty floor space as this one.
There was one vendor selling bronze sculptures and I thought this one was pretty cool.

The show is exciting and constantly changing. This year, for the first time, the FTD World Cup was held at the Philadelphia Flower Show.

So, things change.

In my opinion, they put way too much emphasis on the FTD World Cup thing and not enough on the rest of the show. The World Cup exhibits were nice but there were fewer local exhibits and like I previously mentioned, a lot of empty floor space.
Here's one exhibit that was a creative take on the LOVE sculpture in center city Philadelphia.

Fine. Show us the results when you get back. I was thinking in terms of enjoying the show instead of playing with your 'toys'.

I enjoy playing with my toys at the show. That's one of the reasons I have toys, to play with them, and what better place to play in the cold of winter than the largest flower show in the USA.

I'd take the SONY, as I'm sure you'll have one by then. Maybe with a Zeiss lens.

Nope, not gonna happen.

I think that it seems someone who has purchased all that expensive equipment would have their own idea as to what equipment to take to a flower show for the 24th time. Are you trying to pull someones leg?

I doubt that!

Sounds like a plan.

It was a good choice. The D7200 worked great and the Nikkor 28-300 performed quite well. It did give me a wee bit more reach than if I had used the Canon full frame and weight wasn't an issue at all. I remember last year with the Canon body and lens; about half way through the day it was getting real heavy. I'm lifting the camera several hundred times in a few hours and there aren't a lot of places to rest.

For those who questioned my choice of lens, when shooting exhibits at the flower show the zoom lens makes it easier to get up close when getting up close isn't always possible. I'm not shooting individual flowers, I'm shooting whole exhibits.

Flowers? You need a D850 for flowers.

I have a Canon 5DSr that has higher resolution that the D850 and I'm not taking it for the same reason I'm not taking my 5D IV, with the Canon 28-300 lens, it tends to get quite heavy after a few hours of shooting. I opted to go with the D7200 because it does a good job in lower light situations and it's not as heavy, with the Nikkor lens attached, as one of my Canon's would be.

A good idea assuming the wife is not going to find other things to have you carry once you are at the show.

And then you have to carry it around when you go across the street to Reading Terminal for lunch. Very busy in there. Bassetts Ice Cream Rocks!!!!

In past years we always went into the city early and would have lunch at the terminal market. And, even though it is winter, Bassett's ice cream was always a must.
When I was a child my father worked for the railroad and he use to take us into center city usually 2 or 3 times a month to get Bassett's ice cream at the Reading Terminal Market. My father was a country boy who loved the city.

Thanks for telling us of your inventory. Now do you need help in choosing a car to take you there?

But I didn't tell you my inventory, maybe about a tenth of it. I took my car to the train station and got a parking spot right at the station. SEPTA supplied the transportation into and out of center city Philadelphia.

Sure. This guy goes to this show TWENTY THREE TIMES. He is still looking for advice on camera and lens selection. What does that tell you??

It tells me that you truly are a useless piece of dirt troll with absolutely nothing better to do than criticize and insult people you know nothing about. Typical effing new yorker...

Not just A flower show, the largest indoor flower show. And how do you know I'm not looking to create a coffee table book about the flower show. It wouldn't be the first time.

The weight of the Canon 5D Mark IV makes up for the results you can achieve. Invest a few dollars and get a macro Len ring flash. You will be glad you did. Show some of the pretty flowers here on Ugly HedgeHog!!

Happy Shooting!!

Pay little attention to the negative feedback. Concentrate on GREAT captures. Get a good macro lens, get a ring flash and use a tripod or monopod. I hope they will let you use all this equipment. If not avoid shadows and glass reflections
Remember to take great photos and share with the rest of us "hogs."

Happy Shooting!!
