I've been reading the UHH forum for over a year where I learn something new almost every day and decided to register. I enjoy wildlife photography and have been practicing with birds-in-flight. I also read everything I can from Steve Perry. I was able to capture several images of Northern Harrier Hawks in flight that I was happy with. Here are two images to share. Please share your comments and suggestions for improvements. I'm eager to keep learning. Thanks!
These are fantastic! What camera/lens/settings did you use?
Nikon D850 with a 200-500mm lens
I also used a 1.4TC at f8 at 1/2500 sec. Thanks for the comments.
Very nice work! Where did you get these shots?
Thanks. Farmington Bay, Utah. There are quite a few Northern Harrier Hawks hunting in the marshes near the dikes this time of year.

Steve welcome to the forum. I also like Birds In Flight. Your images are right on. Steve is a good teacher also. Have fun.
Welcome! There are several UHH members in Utah - Luen, jederick, riverrat, Cany143 and others.
Beautifully photographed! Now that you're official, Steve, go to the bottom of the page and click on "all sections." Subscribe to the areas of interest so that you will see entries in your "newest topics" link (top of page) or in the daily digest if you're logged in.
The digest contains just a sampling: for example, 35 spots are allotted to Photo Gallery, which can see 100 topics posted in a day! And until you log in, you won't see any from the specialty sections, as I mentioned. Best to learn to use "newest topics" and then plan to spend several hours here each day
Most of the forums have guidelines which you can find on their home pages. Your northern harrier topic should have been placed in Gallery or another section such as
birds in flight since main
discussion is just that. Admin will move your topic, though; no worries.
These are excellent Steve. Great first photo posts. Welcome to the forum.
Linda, Thanks for the advice. Done.
So you've been holding out on us for over a year.
Very nice images. I hope you have more like these to show us.
