I use this quite a bit, actually.
The Kansas City Trolley. It doesn't go very far, but neither do I. Besides, it is free and I am real cheap.
Very interesting photograph, good to see a modern tram from the US, here in the UK that type of electric transport is known as a tram, a trolley is a similar vehicle but runs on rubber tyres instead of rails, there are not too many of these now as they have been replaced with trams in many UK cities.
Trolley buses do exist in some European countries, one such place is in Padua (Italy) which is a beautiful city so to keep the streets peaceful and quiet as these rubber tyred vehicles are almost silent, also in some streets overhead wires are banned so the trolleys can run on batteries for quite long distances.
I have just noticed CAF trams are imported from Spain, I thought the image in your post looked familiar.

It is interesting how all of this evolved. As a child growing up in Chicago, we still had trolleys & buses that ran off of cantenary wires.
At first, when proposed, I and many others thought this project just a novelty. It has already had already of a million riders and there is no monetary charge to use it. It only runs a short distance down a portion of (what else?) Main Street in downtown Kansas City. I think it only about 2 miles. They are already talking of expansion.
What is really cool is that one can understand what the conductor is saying over the loudspeaker system. LOl. This is because it is a per-recorded messaging system using a woman's voice.
I think they were built in the U.S. designed by an Italian company. I'm not sure.

I see one wire overhead.
I guess it grounds thru the wheels.
