That site has a slight to moderate liberal bias and is given a high rating for factual reporting. Check it out -

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/thomson-reuters-foundation/

I only checked because I was curious about the site and wanted to see if it was a righties-r-us type.

He won’t respond.

I haven’t checked mediabiasfactcheck for their analysis and reporting bias.

You think we should intervene?
If yes is it worth the risk; the cost of US soldiers?

You were in the military and you know better than I.
It might not be a walk in the park.

This video makes no sense to me. There is no analysis of capabilities or any study of the Venezuelan military, does not discuss strategy or speak of Cuban or Russian interests in the area.

It’s just a video of a couple guys playing with some toys in an open field. I laughed and thought this is the Venezuelan Spy service trying to sway people who believe everything they see on the internet. It’s not Russian
Propaganda. They do a much much better job. The Russians sing to the lefties in the US.

Whoever did the video was just ranting. Certainly was never in the military. Does not have a grasp on any facts. He tries to speak of oil. Yep. Just like we stole Iraq’s oil. We produce more and have more oil than pretty much anywhere world.

Marines have been down south more than once. Casualties? Sure. That’s the game. Chesty had his first taste down south.

The question is the goal. For over 100 years, our government does not seem to get what to do to help folks down there. Perhaps it’s a cultural issue. Ignorance.

The military is only a part of the puzzle. Maybe a third or less of the solution.

Snake blood? Teams are rotated around the world for a huge variety of training. Jungle, desert, urban, mountains - you name it.

After I left the Marines, in SE Asia, I met an English officer in charge of training a Gurkha detatchment. He invited me to head out with him to help do some jungle training.

Anyway, the video has zero value. If there is a drama in Venezuela involving Marines, the Venezuelan military will mostly have second thoughts going up against the US. I feel many won’t fight. There will be those who will.

Remember Granada? Marines made up 20% of the military force heading there. Yet took 80% of the ground.

We will do psych warfare to keep the body count as low as possible. Unlike lefties, the right does not want death in the streets. That’s why Sadam Hussein chained up innocent folks in front of their sites & gun emplacements. Artillery pieces located at hospitals and such.

Will it come to warfare? I hope not. Our media does not help as it is l*****t and lies about nearly everything.

Just curious, why do you think these sites are at a level lower than the one at which he resides?

I oppose direct military intervention in Venezuela, I do support military aid to those opposing Maduro.

When I was a ute and in the USAR I was hung ho on this stuff, as I've aged I am more reluctant to commit troops when I'm not going to be there with them.

That being said, if I were POTUS I would be extremely hesitant to commit our forces in theater ... but if I did see it as a requirement I would unleash the dogs of Hell and crush the opposition ala General Curtis LeMay's way of thinking.

I think GHWB had it right in GW1 until he stopped short of marching to Baghdad and putting Saddam's head on a pike.
