The rubber coating located by the Memory Card Door on my D-810 has become detached and needs to be reglued. Attached is a picture of the area.
I have tried gorilla glue and it has failed to adhere.
Does anyone know of the proper type of glue that would work?
Thank you for any advice you may have for me.

Try rubber toughened super glue. It’s black.

Gorilla did it for me.

If you don't do a thorough job
of cleaning away residue of the
original gummy glue then new
glue applications won't take.

I used naptha and cotton buds
to clean off the old glue. Often
the rubber has swelled a bit so
you may hafta shave the edge
slightly to refit it properly.

Frank, You need to use a contact cement, where you coat both the camera and the loose rubber area. Let dry and then press together. I have tried it and it works.
I would peel back that rubber section to do the most area.

I removed the whole thing first, to make
sure I cleaned away all the residue from
the original sticky glue. YMMV, cuz I used
Gorilla Glue, which contains no powerful
solvent. My nose tells me contact cement
contains plenty of it so maybe in a way it
rejuvenates the old sticky glue, so that
any remaining residue gets successfully
blended into the new contact cement ?

Check Nikonusa.com
I had the same problem with my D300 a few yrs ago, I tried most of the things suggested and found nothing worked for very long. I ended up getting a new rubber cover ready to install, all that it took was to get ALL of the old glue off the camera !!!!then apply the new cover, I think it cost me all of $4.00.
The problem I have found over the years is the solvent that is needed to completely remove the old glue from both the body and the cover softens the cover and causes the rubber to swell and it never returns to the original shape or size. If ALL of the glue is not removed the new glue will not stick for very long.
I know I will receive static for my statements, But.
Replacing the cover will be the easiest and cheapest in the long run.

Had the same thing happen on a Nikon D810. Called Nikon, they recommended Rubber cement, did not work. Finally used 3M Scotch Extra Strength Adhesive roller to fix it in place. Still holding.

I think the best is contact cement. You put it on both side and wait for it to dry before pushing them in place.

Super glue should take care of that. IMO.

I actually used super glue and it works well but the covering is supposed to be easily removable for service.

The reason that Nikon and the best repair centers replace rubber grips that have to be removed when cameras are repaired is that there is really no guaranteed long term way to adhere these to the camera bodies other than the special adhesive strips that are used at manufacture. The D810 is still a supported camera, so replacement grips should be available.

Edit**The challenge is the dissimilarity in the material of the grip pad vs. the material of the camera body. An adhesive that will work well on one will not work well with the other.**

Fortunately, I've never had to send my Nikon DSLR for service. And the warranty expired long ago. I just learned something new today.

The hardest part of replacing the rubber grip parts is getting the tape in the right place. Genuine Nikon grips come with the tape pre-installed, requiring only that the protective tape over the adhesive be removed and the grips put in place on a cleaned surface. When I refurbished a D300 a couple of years ago, I could not get genuine grip replacements, and installation of 3rd party parts was torture. Here is a link to the Nikon parts department. As the page says, only limited parts are available. But this is where I would start.
