George Mendonza has died. He was that photographer.

Mendonsa wasn't the photographer, Jerry. He was the sailor. "Life" magazine photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt took the photo.

George Mendonza was the sailor, not the photographer. The nurse died a couple of years ago. I saw a statue of the iconic moment in San Diego Harbor a few years ago. The photographer was Alfred Eisenstaedt.

Thanks for the correction. I can't read the article unless I subscribe. I saw the picture and the headline. The photographer, of course, was Alfred Eisenstaedt.

Alfred Eisenstaed died August 23, 1995 (aged 96) one wonderful shooter.

This statue is in the headlines now because it had red graffiti reading #metoo movement on the nurses leg. She was reported as being kissed without giving her consent but she didn't condemn him given the situation.
Both lived a good long life.

There is conjecture that it was semi-staged at the behest of Eisenstaedt
