Lens for Canon EOD RP

I'm strongly considering ordering an EOS RP, not a pro but a serious amateur, a couple reviews seem to tell me I'll be happy with the kit lens, making it $1600 in all, but I'm wondering about the L lens that's also an option, making it $2200 in all. Advice?

Do you plan on shooting in a pouring rain or otherwise abusing your equipment where the sturdiest build and weather sealing is needed to withstand rough usage? The new RF lenses are built to maximize the characteristics of the mirrorless body. The existing EF and EF-S lenses continue to operate with their market leading excellence. If you mean the kit with the EF 24-105 STM, this zoom is rated sharper than the older / original version 24-105L. Just don't drop the lens off a table and you'll have an excellent mirrorless kit (with the necessary EF adapter).

Yes the kit with the EF 24-105 STM, vs the RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS

I don’t know enough to advise anyone on this question, but I was just reading about the new camera and it’s ability to accept the new line of lenses built esp for it as well as both EF and EF-S lenses using new adaptors created for the purpose of allowing us to continue using lenses we already have. How unusual is that?!?
