A State Trooper pulled an 87 yr old woman over for speeding. As he looked at her drivers license he was surprised to notice that attached to it was a conceal weapon permit. Taken aback, he couldn't help but ask if she had a gun in her possession. She replied in her crackly voice that she indeed did have a 45 automatic in her glove compartment. The trooper then asked if she had any other weapons to which she replied that she also had a 9mm Glock in her center console. The shocked trooper asked if that was all and the little old lady held up her purse and replied, "Well, I do keep a 38 special in my purse." Finally the astonished trooper asked, "What are you afraid of..? and the little old lady smiled and replied, "Not a frigging thing." :o)
And watch out for her stiletto heels.

On the one hand that makes sense. On the other hand, she thinks she needs weapons.
SOMEone is going to need a weapon today, but nobody can say, right now, just who that will be. Although the odds are that it won't be this little old lady, if it turns out that she DOES need a weapon and doesn't have one, what will be the consequences to her? She made that analysis and decided it was worth the hassle to carry a weapon, just in case. (If she actually thought she was going to be some place where she would need a weapon today, she almost certainly would have decided not to go there. As do most sane people who have a choice.)
You (or anybody else) can make the analysis and decide it's NOT worth the hassle, to you, to carry a weapon today. But you can't say for sure that you won't need one.

Scout motto: " Be prepared ".
"Always" is not said but implied.

Amen, Wrangler5. Almost every day I read about someone being attacked who might have been able to defend themselves had they possessed the means.

Have to agree with you 100% on this.
Men can't even have a men's club anymore without some female getting her knickers in a knot because she is not included

Is there a point? Almost weekly I read of someone somewhere either on the street or in their home repelling invaders to their safety. I have never been attacked but when out of California I generally carry a weapon. I pray to God I never have to use it to protect me or mine but if the time comes when I might need to do that then I will be prepared. People buy fire extinguishers never thinking they will need them but some obviously do. Nothing wrong with being prepared.

I got rid of my guns a long time ago. I replaced them with 2 Pitbulls. I loved in the Bronx at that time and one day while walking them in the woods a large black man approached me, stopping when he saw my dogs. My female leaped at him and made him drop a knife he was hiding behind his back. She made the papers he made the hospital, dont need a gun.
