Hi everyone, I took this shot back in 2017 of an eagles nest by the house. Nikon D5300, Tamron 150-600. 1/1000 F7 at 600 on tripod. Edited in LR. I would like to enlarge it but my questions to the group are:

1. Should I increase the exposure because sometimes when I look at it - it seems to dark but other times it looks fine..lol
2. What size print would work best? I am thinking 12x18 or do you think it would look good larger...like a 16x20 or 16x24?
3. If you were going to edit this - what changes would you make to make it better?

Thanks
Cindy

I can’t help with the questions (to new at this), but want to say, “Great Shot”.

Great shot. I’d try cropping right and left to emphasize the strong diagonal and then try some different aspect ratios - I’d guess 3:2 or 5:4 would work. I’ve always liked 16x20 prints.

I would add for consideration, crop off the bottom half of the nest (maybe a little more).
You have a great view into the nest!!

Well, 1st off it is a pretty nice shot !

If I were going to submit this to a contest, this is what I came up with -

Basicly, I lightened it, added contrast and saturation, cropped and reduced size for better viewing here. This cropping works out to almost a 2:1 format --- maybe 13X24.....

..

Thanks...the nest is only about a 30 minute walk from my house -- it's amazing to be able to watch them. I will play with cropping and see what I can come up with!

That's great! Thank you for playing around with it....I will crop it down more and play with the lighting, contrast and saturation to see if I can come close to what you did!

A slight vignette might aid in keeping the eye toward the nest and birds, especially in the upper two corners.

I didn't even think about adding a slight vignette....that might work as well! Thank you

This is a great shot. I personally think that the exposure is good and looks very natural to me. If it were mine I might play with cropping it a bit, but that's just me.
