Does anyone use the WD Pass Port backup unit? And do you like it?

I have six of the next model up, the
2 GB WD My Passport Ultras. I only run them when I'm actually using them to manually archive or retrieve Photos, Music, or Other Files. If I wanted a system constantly running I would recommend using your own enclosures that include a Fan. I don't use the WD software, only Windows (10) with them. And after shopping around for about a year, six in six different colors. They can also be formatted for Mac use. Thus far no failures.

Funny you should post this right now - I am in the midst of trying to get a new WD easystore backup disk system to work. The disk drive is fine, but the software is absolute garbage - doesn't recognize the drive, doesn't have an autobackup program that works, and the last WD unit I had a problem with that they were unable to support, even with direct online control of my computer.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, go buy a Lacie.

I have two 1Tb My Passport Ultras. I really like them.
One stays by the desktop, one is for traveling with the laptop.
They are only connected to do backups, then ejected and unplugged. That way they are not "running" when not needed.
They are nice and compact. I don't use the software that came with them, I deleted it.
I've had good luck with WD My Book external drives. I use Acronis rather than the WD software that comes with the drive.
I have a 1TB unit that I download once a month the photos I've decided to keep. It's probably 5 years old now and works fine. I only plug it into my desktop PC when I want to use it, so it's not running all the time (which causes them to fail prematurely) because when plugged in the disk is spinning continuously.

I use a WD My Passport 4tb on my IMac for backups using only the Mac backup software program that comes with the iOS. I have two 8tb WD drives for regular or daily backup of any files I create. The key to using Westen Digital devices I found, is not to use the software in the bundle. It has no value. The devices themselves are excellent at storing data for longevity.

Yes, have three of then 1 & 2 gb
I have 4GB that I use as one of my backup drives for shooting. I download my SD cards through a RavPower filehub using a 3.0 USB cable. Simple and secure.
They work well on my mac but if things start to go wrong with them remeber to update them with the latest firmware....I was having problems with one of them for ages until the penny finally dropped....no problems since I updated
I have one of these attached to my NAS and it's worked perfectly for many years.
I have 1TB and 5TB models. Like them a lot.

One of the only drives that ever failed me was a WD 4TB Easystore. Brand new and failed when I returned from a trip of 1600 photos. Real bummer. Fortunately I had two slots in my camera and was using the second as a backup.
Knock on wood, so far my WD HHD drives have not failed but they are all backed up.

I'm curious why you have six. Do you use a different color for different backups?
