My camera club's contest this month is "low light". I pulled out the old family Bible and some old photos of my mom, my grandmother and her brother, plus a couple more. The kerosene lamp was manufactured in England and is silver plated and of unknown age. Besides the kerosene lamp I have a studio light to camera left with a 20 degree grid using only the modeling light at 3/4 power. The kelvin from both light sources is close. A side note the kerosene lamp is a "double wicker" but I had only one wick in the lamp. I thought about B&W or sepia but decided to go with color since it was subtle. Comments are welcome.
Often photos of old pictures are boring, but this presentation is superb and it tells a story. May we see more of OP’s creations.
Good job! You’ve given me an idea for my next camera club’s monthly challenge, which is something similar to what you have done here. Thanks.

Thank you John, my intent was to tell a snippet of a story. I have enjoyed doing these small set-ups during the cold Winter months. I'll post others whenever inspiration hits me.

Thanks Jay, these cold Indiana days are draining on my creativity. It took me a couple days to find the kerosene lamp that had been packed in our move 1-1/2 year ago. Clubs are a good way to keep the creative juices flowing.

Thanks Longshadow, I was getting tired of photographing grey barns and bare trees.
"Light is everything" is an old saying. You've brought it to bear here very well, from hue to value range. Were it mine, I would try to subdue the lamp as much as possible, in keeping with the subtlety of the subject.

Thanks artbob, as photographers we use whatever light available.

I can imagine! Spring should be around the corner, but I'm not sure which corner.
Beautiful. Could be the front piece of a family album.
