My Canon 5D IV shutter button will auto focus but will not complete the process of recording the photo-no clicking sound. Also my back button auto focus is fine. Any suggestions or just send it to Canon?
Thanks
And the button feels the same when you push it down?
I'd go through the usual process of turning it off and on; removing the battery; trying a different battery; remove the battery, turn it on, and then hold the shutter button down for a few seconds.
Hopefully, it's still under warranty. I wouldn't have anyone but Canon work on it.
Let us know how this turns out.
Could be set to not shoot without focus; not shoot without card; card has write protect?
Bad card?
You may want to try resetting to factory defaults.

My Canon will not AF on certain semi-automatic settings. BBF is working fine otherwise on other settings. It's not an either/or situation.

Evidently his focuses fine, will not take the picture.

That's the way I have my canons set up, I use back bottom focus, so I have the shutter button focus disabled, its just a way you like to have it work, you can go and change it at any time to a different version. A quick refer do your manual will do the trick! Oooops, just noticed its not that. Yes your shutter button should still function as supposed. Is it doing (in this case not doing) it all the time, no matter what you're trying to do? If that is the case, after trying the usual things (like reset, removing batteries and restarting, etc.) a trip to Canon might be in order!

Thank you all. I’ll give every suggestion a try and get back. Hopefully it will be useful to other members.
Have you activated the 2 or 10 second delay feature?

I'm make this move immediately after trying the simple solutions. Turn off the camera. Remove the battery for a few minutes. Put it back in or even better, another known good battery. Still got the problems? Go over all the menu settings. Look okay? Reset the camera. Still got the problem? Call Canon. Good luck.
check for peanut butter or toe jam around the shutter button.
