They BOTH have 26MP - which is the least Res publishers will now accept. But, the MILC is so much lighter, and it comes with an EF adapter, too (a $100 item) - thrown in for FREE!!! … What am I gonna do? …..

I can only say for me that I'd go with the DSLR. I'm just not a fan of EVF cameras.

Money is irrelevant after you have it. Which one do you really want?

Thanks for your input, Bob. Well, I don't mind EVFs - all of my SLTs have 'em. Not sure I like MILCs, tho'.

Can you point me to a reference for that? Thanks.

Thanks for the links, Jerry. I've been eying the 6D2 for quite some time, now. But, now, THIS comes out!
Same tech as the R, basically … so it's even more up-to-date than the 6D2, and I'd save two hundred - so!

It was a post, right HERE, actually, Mike … but, I didn't BM it, so - could not lead you in the right direction.

There are now three cameras out - which have done this - gone 1MP more than min. The other's the X-T3.

But, if you Googled "min. Res required for publishing photos" - that might get you there.

The minimum was specified as 25MP.

Now THAT is a rather puzzlesome remark.
Never seen anything along that line, prolly
cuz SLT users are a not very numerous.

Neville the lesch, it do puzzle me that you
would self identify as an SLT user but are
"not sure I like MILCs tho" cuz in my mind
you are already happily using one.

With the SLT you are already using an EVF
so the Big Bugaboo is no issue here. I use
"MILC"s sometimes with the LAE4 A-mount
AF drive adapter which includes a complete
SLT PDAF unit ... ignores the CDAF unit in
the camera body. So, I'm as much an SLT
user as you are, except my camera looks a
bit weird.

Now you are offered an SLR shaped body
with dual/hybrid AF systems, immune to
AF micro-errors, minus the delicate mirror,
and I can't really fathom how you draw the
line between"SLT" and "MILC". Especially
since my own cameras easily transmogrify
back and forth between the two as easily
swapping a lens. Pray tell whuzzup widdat ?

Taking a wild WILD guess, the new Canon
appears to be quite perfectly designed just
for you so it triggers an "it's too good to be
true" reaction ... which IS a healthy dose of
cautiousness in all things ... and it therefor
leads you to doubt the obvious choice. Just
a wild guess ...

That's what I was starting to think, Larry …

So - you think a-mount is pretty much finished, now - do you?

If so - maybe - THIS is the direction to go, huh?

5-way IBIS, too. Only a-mount to have it is the a99 II -$3200!!!!

This RP - is TWO GRAND - less!!!!!

I'd slow down a little and wait for more information - reviews are just starting to appear.

` br br br br Now THAT is a rather puzzle... (show quote)

Even though ALL SLTs have EVFs - they function, essentially - as DSLRs. MILCs are NOT DSLRs, and perform in an entirely different way. Many designs don't even have the VF centered - which is something I don't think I could ever get into (a6000 series) … and MOST MILCs - particularly, the FF ones - are priced in the three grand or more ballpark. The RP is FF, and costs the same as my a77 II … so, why not go w/ it

Dan - it's a CANON, first of all … has similar specs to the much-heralded R, and is FF and has 5-way IBIS … AND costs the same as my APS-C a77 II - which has a much lesser IBIS, AND they throw in an EF adapter!

What's NOT to like?

What's THAT supposed to mean, USER?

Do you know something about a-mount - I don't know?
