Ricoh won't let Pentax fall down on its knees … Mark my word!!!!!

Hope you’re right. There seems to have been some Pentax bashing here lately

Not by me, Murray … I have a dozen DSLRs - 5 Nikons, 3 Canons, 3 Sony SLTs - and you know what my most favorite one is? - you guessed it - my Pentax K-50 … BY FAR!!!!!

I'm a touchy-feely kinda guy. Like to have a hands on experience when purchasing ANY thing, even tools at home depot.I want to handle things, then walk away to prossess my decision of need vs want. Could not do that with pentax..Nobody carries them in my state. Closes place is manhatten NOT happening. Can't deal with big cities. Now if I was actualy going to buy it.yeah B&H would probably be my go to. But to do a recon trip just to get a feeling for the product, then going back home to rethink all my options? NAH. Ricoh realy should get off their butts and start a credible ad campain to market a good camera line and expand their distribution outlets. Just thinking.

You know, Papa … now that all the Ma and Pop camera stores have closed down in the small towns - there's really only one or two places where you can actually go in and HOLD cameras - one is Ritz Camera - a chain in THIS neck of the world - not sure it's where you are, or not. The other is BEST BUY - which has a pretty fair collection of all the most recent DSLRs, and a few MILCs, too. Another BIG BOX place which may or may not have - Pentax - is PC Richards & Son. Then you have the discount outlets - like BJ's and Costco - which ALSO have a plentiful supply of cameras - but, maybe not what you want. I've been into BJ's - though, and handled one or two Pentax models, they had on display. Do you have one of those near you? … If so - give them a try - why don'tcha, Papa?

Anyway - if weight or size is an issue for you - the bigger Pentax APS-C cameras - like the KP, the K-3 and K-3 II, and the older K-50 and K-30 models are all fairly hefty with approximately 5.2" in width. The newer K-70, along with the now discontinued K-S1 and K-S2 - are slightly smaller and lighter and are substantially UNDER 5" in width. This may be an asset to you or not. If you prefer larger width and heft - stick to the other models mentioned above. The KP should be widely available, now. A nice camera, and has a very good low-light handling capability. PLUS - it has 5-axis Stabilization - which could be a boon to you - if you have trouble holding a camera steady. I do. So, I'm sure many folks in their 70s and up - do too. You might want to consider that one, Papa. You can get it in black, OR in Chrome. Nice, huh?
