Tufted Titmice. I find taking small birds in flight an irresistible challenge! My keep discard is about 1 in 250 of fair shots and 1in 500 a keeper. one of the ways I have a modicum of success is to try to determine where the bird is going, then try to focus a spot where the bird will fly into the predetermined focused spot. I would love to hear from others who also try to take small BIF. Thanks to all ahead of time!

Nice shot.

Well your method is certainly working despite the small keeper rate - these are excellent captures IMHO.

My grandmother used to say "nothing truly worthwhile comes easy," and you have provided yet another example of her wisdom.
Great images. Thanks for sharing.

Well, to quote Ansel Adams: “Twelve good pictures in a year is a good crop.” These are good!

The shots you posted are awesome. But I have to admit, with that keeper rate, I'd be discouraged after a couple of tries! And how does one focus on empty space, into which you hope something will fly?!

I could write a book, but the short answer is either knowing where the bird is going to or coming from. an example set an old branch 15 feet from a feeder, focus on something between the two and you're ready to take lots of photos and hope to get the good one. Of course, it's more complicated than that but you get the idea. Here is a short video of small birds in flight, you might be interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L7ieX-r3PQ&t=49s
