So perhaps someone just Xerox ed the sign and Gorilla Glue d it to a Formica sheet. The pic looks dated so maybe it was shot with Kodachrome.

Being in the business, there IS a brand of duct tape that markets itself as "Duck Tape".
However, I know on good authority that no ducks were injured or killed in manufacturing it.
That millennial should be more concerned about how they make a down jacket.

Actually it is duct tape: used originally on HVAC ducts. Some manufacturers even get it wrong.

Of course, the two words, "duck" and "duct," sound similar when spoken. The word "duck" is easier to say when referring to duct tape. Each word has its own definition. I venture that most people couldn't care less about these distinctions.

I don't know about others but I pronounce duct tape as it's spelled, DUCT. There is a brand of duct tape called DUCK TAPE, and I call the tape DUCT tape.

I hate it when the orange sauce mixes with the glue from the roll when I'm roasting it.

Duck is a brand of waterproof tape. Duct tape (the real high heat-resistant kind used by HVAC installers) is a different thing. It’s also a term used by 3M and others to describe knock-offs of Duck Tapes.

Adding to the confusion that seems to be running rampant in this thread is the fact that cloth-backed duct tape is used for all sorts of things in the film industry and is called gaffer's tape. And for those of you who haven't heard the word gaffer before, it is the chief lighting tech on a film shoot. Interesting how the funny photo that started this thread turned into what it has.

Whatever happened to DUCT tape? Did the ducks eat it?

It's been duct tape for many, many, many years - much more recently "duck tape"!!!

I agree with her. Ducks are made for eating not making tape.

Now, now don’t call names.
I didn’t know gorillas ate “duck” tape. I thought perhaps that’s what they fed them at the farms where they raise them for gorilla glue.

OMG, you people are soooo funny.

No home should be without Duct tape. Temporary repair for most projects!
