thank you JimmyT but i think it was a little of both
I kind of agree with rgrenaderphoto, but not exactly. Had you aimed lower you could have had the entire bird, but lost part of the beautiful sky. As is the bird isn't 'cut off' in a pleasing way. I think (just my opinion) if you cropped some off the bottom, just above the white of the tail, giving us a head and shoulders portrait of the bird while retaining the entire sky it might look a little nicer.
That said, it is a beautiful capture that I would love to have shot myself.

Looks like s/he's about to take off again. Nice catch!
It's lovely but it almost looks as though the background was added to the bird shot.

Beautiful eagle and background Lori.
Very good shot Lori, it feels like you were taking a picture of a sunset and it was photobombed by an eagle.

Nice. Really nice, but from whence did the front light come?
Great shot, wish I could have seen the download.
Is my eye tricking me or is the light on the eagle coming from a different direction than the light in the sky?
The white balance of the light on the eagle also doesn't seem to match the sky.
This is a composite, Right?
