I'm always impressed with the ways a childhood and parents have profound affects on the adult, both good and bad. To the son of the WW I vet - a dad to be proud of

My father was a WW I Veteran. He worked hard all of his life, even after he retired at age 66. The day he passed he had worked around our home, painting, planting trees, enjoyed his dinner, went to bed, and passed in his sleep. He was 80 years old. I never heard him raise his voice to me or my mother and he did not believe in using corporal punishment on a child. He lived a hard life and endured a brutal war and would help a stranger out without pause. I only wish that I was half the man that he was.

What a nice way to go! I hope that’s the way I’ll go. My Dad was a WW-1 Vet.

Thank you for the king words MrMophoto & Jack Mac. I just came across my fathers WW I draft notice and will have it professionally framed to give to my son who also has a collage of his WW I memorabilia. I had all of it professionally mounted and framed and gave it to my son for a Birthday present last year since he has a great interest in my father's past and legacy.
