Has anybody had any experience with Retro Enterprises Co in Japan lately? I would like to buy some single 8 film for an old Fujica single 8 camera I have, and they seem to be the only source in the world. But I sent an email asking how soon I could receive my order, and I never got a reply. A package of 5 Single 8 cartridges is about $265 in US$, including processing and postage for the blank film, and for the processed film they return to you. I'm afraid to commit to that kind of money if they don't exist any more. Thanks--Ed

There is also a source in Germany that still sells Single 8 cartridges, they do not have the original film stock, but they have Fuji Velvia and others, I will have to look up their name though, as I do not recall that in my head right now! I haven't done any shooting with my ZC1000 for quite some time now, so I may have to look into that myself again! I think it was called the impossible project.
I found Impossible Project, but it looks like all they have is instant film, for Polaroid cameras.

Although I don't know about the company you said I believe they are legit. I don't think any film manufacturer makes single 8 film any more but it's possible to use other film stock to make them. It's only expensive that way.

That's just what I said, they do not have the original filmstock anymore, but they do have Fuji Velvia amongst others, even some Kodak material in Single 8!

I meant Fuji doesn't make either single 8 or super 8 any more but it's possible to buy Fuji Velvia 35mm and cut them into single 8.
That's not that expensive for film and processing. If you can use paypal for the transaction they will guarantee you get what you ordered. Is this color or B&W film?
At Retro Enterprises, they have tax-free packages to sell overseas. It was priced in Japanese Yen, about $265 US for 5 single 8 cartridges with 40 feet (not 50) of acetate color film. That would follow what you said about re-packaging super 8 film in single 8 cartridges. The original Fuji film was thinner (polyester?) and they could squeeze 50 feet into the single 8 cartridge. They also have a package of 5 B&W single 8 cartridges for slightly less money. Both packages include processing, and postage to get the blank film to you, and to return your processed film to you. You pay postage to get your exposed film back to them.
Check out Freestyle.
www.freestylephoto.biz I received a mailing yesterday and they are showing Ektachrome 100 Super 8 cartridges for $47.69 after a 10% instant rebate (limited time rebate)
At
www.kodak.com they have Super 8 Ektachrome ISO 100 for 39.99, and Tri-X reversal Super 8 for 29.99. But I was looking for SINGLE 8, which allows you to back wind and do double exposures, like you can with regular 8 and 16mm. The cartridge is designed differently, more like an audio tape cassette, with 2 spools.

That's not that expensive???? Gee, the last time I was shooting Single 8 (and it was not that long ago), I paid $4 for a cartridge (and that included processing cost)!

Try B&H. They have Super 8 and may have some regular 8.

Kodak is making Super 8 right now but I don't know of any film manufacturer making single 8.

Yes they do carry Super 8 and maybe normal 8 (although I doubt it), but they do not carry Single 8!
