The Fuji XF 80mm macro lens already offers a 120mm Field Of View, a optimal size for macro and other uses. Fuji makes a variety of longer XF lenses if you need more range. What are you wanting the Teleextender to accomplish? Regards, Ralph

I just bought the Fuji 80mm Macro. I already own the Fuji 100-400mm tele, and With that I bought the 2X extender. That was last year. I have a few other fuji lenses, but only the tele can use the 2-X extender. I wasn't really looking for additional "REACH" but I thought it might be nice if the 2-X extender was compatible with the 80. That would just be an added PLUS!!! Thanks for your post, Ralph.. I own the 80mm macro, 50-140mm,
100-400mm, and both the 1.4 and 2x extenders. They only operate on the 50-140 and 100-400.

I wonder why they say that it does. They, being some “others”. I guess you should, and probably DO KNOW. Thanks for your response. How do you like the 80? Quality? ... RJM

FYI, they will also work on the 20MM f2 monster.

As for the 70MM macro lens, the rear element of the lens itself seems to be too close to the flange such that the portion of the TC that inserts into the back of the main lens would hit it, so i would say no, you cannot use the TC (1.4 or 2x) on the 80MM macro. Not that I could see why one would want to, either.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t necessarily WANT to use the 2-X on the 80, but somewhere I heard that it’s do-able. I have the 100-400mm and the 55-200mm there is no real reason to hope for doubling the 80. But I did want to know if it’s possible. RJM

The thing about extenders is that they increase the reproduction size on the sensor without shortening the minimum working distance. So for example, if the working distance of the 80mm Macro lens is 10" with reproduction of 1:1 it will become 1.4:1 with a 1.4X Extender and a 2:1 reproduction on the sensor with a 2X extender while maintaining the 10" working distance.

BUT....apparently, the 80 does NOT work with the 2-X extender????? Anything that increases my options, is a good thing, but It doesn’t matter, really. RJM

I don't know why you were asking about the extender but if you are simply looking for increased magnification you might consider extension tubes, they will double the magnification of your macro lens. Personally I use Kenko because I was able to purchase a full set for about a quarter of the price of Canon tubes and the Kenko is a well made set that allows for aperture control and auto focus although auto focus with macro is pretty silly. At any rate if you do buy tubes stay away from the very cheap plastic tubes, make sure and research any of the aftermarket offerings before buying.

I don’t believe I’ll have a need to alter what the 80mm will give me “right out of the box”. In my other cameras’ list of lenses I have a 35mm Macro and a 100mm Macro, and they are absolutely GRAND. I just wanted a macro of some sort for the FUJI camera. The reason I enquired about the extender for the 80 was,...I already have the 2-X extender(I bought it when I got the 100-400mm lens) And I was curious if it could be used with the 80. When I got it originally, I was told that its’ use was only possible on the 140 and the 100-400mm lenses. Recently someone said it could be used on the 80....I wouldn’t anyway. Thanks for your response.....RJM

Before you say no to increased magnification click on the link below for my 500px page, it has been a long time since I have posted there but I think that some of my high magnification macro is still posted there. Anyway, enjoy you lens and camera, I have an X-T2 and it is amazing, even though I only use it with vintage lenses, most of my modern lenses are Canon, I have too much invested in Canon to turn my back on it.

I have both and they work together just fine. I use it for telephoto shots quite a bit. You’ll like it.

Extension tubes may reduce the light a bit...but no glass to cause distortion.

I'll betcha he wants to accomplish a bigger image.

Gonna bet against me ?

Whatz so optimal about a "120mm FoV" for macro.
I prefer 200 and 280-via-TC myself, for macro. For
most other uses I find 120 waaaay to long. Acoarst
neither one of us can answer his question about the
compatibility, so we're both hijackers ....

So .... staying on topic:

GO TO the Fuji site where there should be an answer
about compatibility of the 80 and the TC !
