Excellent photograph showing the nasty end of a snapping turtle.
When I was about 5 years old my parents showed me a news story from upstate NY, in the next town over, about a young kid who had been bitten on the nose by a snapping turtle. I wish I could say more about what happened but I have no idea. Remember I was about 5 years old. I doubt the ending was good though. I think my parents were trying to tell their 3 boys not to play with these turtles as they were in lakes and ponds around us when we grew up.

Those are nasty snappers. Years ago the people in the Nebraska Sandhills used to tease those turtles with a rope until it bit one end of the rope which they then tied the other end to the back bumper of the old vehicle and then drag it down the road. The turtle would not let go, it just got madder. Don Z.
