The site may not have every recording, but is does have a huge selection. Just use the search function. I've been using it for years.

Thanks (I think).

I can remember Paul Whitman playing this on TV in the 50's. It never gets old and this rendition is fabulous.

Very nice, beautiful hand, but I like Gershwin’s rhapsody in it’s original form and wish I could ear him playing the original form

Whoops, again. I can't read this AM.
Sorry.

This one really is George Gershwin playing. No video, but it is the recording.

Excellent choice, Mark. My daughter played it a little when she was into her 3rd or 4th year of piano. Her teacher, though, could really knock it out and was very impressive. That was about 35 yrs ago. My daughter still plays and teaches piano on the side. She's 49 now. (that must make me old) lol

Thanks, Tom. My body is old, (82 last Sunday) but my mind and spirit are teenagers. My daughters are 51 & 50. You daughter must have been pretty accomplished at piano to play the Gershwin Rhapsody!

I didn't say she played it well or played the whole piece. lol
Her teacher could do it without sheet music.

Many years ago I toured with a small symphonic ensemble playing a period program which included the original Ferde Grofe orchestration of Rhapsody. Most of the venues were college campuses and so one would reasonably expect audiences a bit more sophisticated than average. While the featured pianist was a very fine performer and the conductor had done his homework in preparing to present the original version in a convincing way the audience reactions to the piece were tepid at best. Ultimately I concluded that the many modern symphonic arrangements of the piece are so well known that the original fell rather strangely on the ears of contemporary audiences. Interesting to note that the original 1924 performance at Aeolian Hall with Gershwin at the piano was largely improvised by Gershwin. I've had a chance to look at the original piano score and much of it was simply a rough outline.
