The Cowboy pictured here is Lee Anderson seated upon his horse Concho. Lee and Concho could be seen riding through the grounds of the Superstition Mountain Museum's Heritage Days Festival showing off the attire of a typically dressed cowboy and his horse from around 150 years ago.
Lee would rein-in Concho in response to questions from the visitors and instantly a small group would surround the man astride his horse, asking him about those days so long past. He gladly explained the need for his attire including the six shooter, the lever-action carbine, the leather chaps, the style of his saddle, the ropes, even his weather worn wide-brimmed hat.
The photo's background has been replaced with a ghostly image of Fredrick Remington's statue of "Stampede" which was donated to the museum by Greg Davis and now graces the grounds of museum.

He certainly fits the part. Nice going.
Great looking portrait. That rugged Cowboy look, reminds me of the TV miniseries, Lonesome Dove.
Thanks for the reply's and thumbs-up.

Very nice. I remember back-packing in the Superstitions about 40 years ago and encountering an old prospector. Seriously. He was dressed the part, complete with old Colt revolver, leading a burro with his supplies. As he walked past and was gone I had to think that maybe I had just imagined it......
Spectacular portrait. I like it so much that I had to log in just so I could comment!
Loved this post - thanks for sharing it! (My horse loved it, too!)
Beautiful portrait Jack. He has a lot of character and i'll bet a lot of stories too.
