Hummingbird in really poor light

I was sitting in a lawn chair because some male hummers were coming to the feeder just before sunset and as they circled the feeder the light would just light their colors up like neon.
Because I was only 20 feet away I went to the 100-400L for the higher IQ. Well they didn't circle or get in the light after I switched lenses except this once after the light was so bad that my 1/1000 and f/8 resulted in ISO 5000. In spite of that the detail is great, and the noise is awful - this is after using the denoise in PS at a high setting on it.
80D, 100-400L mk II @ 400, 1/1000 @ f/8, ISO 5000 hand held at a bit over 20'
I was trying for him flying but he landed with the top of his head and tip of his tale in the light and I clicked while the clicking was good, a second later he went in the shade and didn't come out until he took off.

Thanks, that is a gray board fence about 25 feet behind the feeder and in heavy shade at the time.
