I’d like to use my iPhone 7Plus to scan magazine articles into PDF files without removing pages from the magazine. While the apps I’ve tried so far will do that, I’m finding the remaining steps for merger and storage to be more complex than I like. I’m prepared for a learning curve but hoping to find an easier curve than what I’ve found so far. Ang suggestions? Thanks.

"pdf" is an Adobe format. The current version of their Acrobat program costs money, but will do everything imaginable with pdf files.

I wouldn't try to do the whole process with the phone. I would take pictures of the pages with the phones but use a computer to convert them to PDF files.

I use Camscanner (the free version) on my Android phone. They also have an iphone version. I can scan into jpg, doc, and pdf. Very accurate and easy to use. Allows you to crop & edit only a partial page if desired. It lets me scan a consecutive pdf from a multi-page source.
I assume the iphone version is the same. I'm not sure what the benefit of a paid version would be, this seems to do everything well. Just transfer the files to your hard drive. Or did I misunderstand your question?

I've been using Genius Scan for Iphone for several years to scan PDF's and jpg. Allows cropping, adjustments and has many automatic export features for email, dropbox, Google drive etc. I liked this app so much that I purchased the Pro version. Check it out.

I use TurboScan. It takes three photos and merges them for maximum clarity. You can crop the image (it will pick the edges out pretty accurately unless the background is the same shade as the document) and then do various things with it - I usually email it as a .pdf file to my computer for storage. I use it for receipts often. It costs $4.99 and for me was well worth it.

I use low cost Scanner Pro for my occasional scan with my iPhone 7 plus. You can scan many pages continuously and save into one file.

I use the Adobe Scan app on my iPhone and iPad. Works great and it’s free. It also links to the Adobe cloud so you can view on desktop/laptop with free Adobe Acrobat reader.

A scanning feature is built right into the iPhone if you have at least iOS 12. Go to the Notes app when opened at the bottom of the screen you will see a plus sign which when pressed gives you a number of options. It scans directly to a high quality PDF when you choose scan documents.

Yes, that works very well. I also have a business card scanner (forget the name), and that's great for keeping track of phone numbers, email addresses, and hours of operation.
