Oscar nominations are just a popularity contest - look at the current crop! John Wayne was and remains my favorite Hollywood star, I have ment of his movies and watch them often. His movies never get old.

Sorry but Stagecoach and Red River were undoubtedly his best films. I enjoyed his films but he was not an Oscar worthy actor of his time. There were plenty of better actors around then. Today he would win every year against the prettyboy, sensitive panty-waist sissies who pretend to be super heroes and comic book characters. Ho hum
