Walls like that are effective when manned with military RoE that allow shoot to k**l. Those walls are smaller and much easier to patrol. Our wall is estimated to cost a minimum of $4 million per mile not to mention on-going cost of manning and maintenance. I don’t want my tax money wasted on this non-solution when there are better, more cost-effective solutions.

So right you are, protecting the borders of other countries is more important than protecting our own. 😳😳😳😳😳

BS. The purpose, to keep unwanted people out. Quite simple.

So if there are better, more cost-effective solutions as you say why during Obama's 8 years were basically none if any of these great ideas you indicate put into effect? We still have way too many border crossers and drug smuggling across the border?

And what exactly are these more cost effective solutions?

"The Obama administration is spending close to a half a billion dollars to build a sophisticated electronic fence along Jordan's northern and eastern borders, a wall which US strategic planners hope will stem the flow of refugees and also wall off the increasingly important American base from the disintegration of Syria and Iraq."

You could likely spend a trillion on the southern border and not do what you are hoping it would but piss off a lot of law abiding ranchers and devastate many small towns.

Spending the money you want to spend on the wall on high tech measures could repell many more people and much more contraband.
How deep are you prepared to build the wall. So far they have found tunnels as deep as 90 feet.

The tunnels prove that walls work.

What? You are saying the purpose of the wall is to stimulate mexicans to build tunnels? Did you just switch time zones again? Why do we want them to build tunnels? I guess I had it all wrong. I thought the purpose of the wall was to keep people and things on the other side of the wall. Silly me.
With just the wall we have we could probably get them to build more tunnels by using technology to see inside vehichles coming through ports of entry. Then with more technology we could interupt the tunnels before they could be put to use. Maybe we could let Trump put his name on some of the machines.
