Did you try shutting it down, plug in the AC adapter and try again?

Check for stuck keys on the keyboard - blinking is not usual for any trouble.

Check for malware. I have had that problem before
Malware bytes is a free download program that help prevent it.

Is it the whole screen that's blinking? You can't use the computer at all?

It would be pretty hard to get any help from malwarebytes since the screen is blinking and won't boot up.

Do you have any other screen/monitor or TV you can plug into?

Try moving the lid back & forth to see if you can get normal function.. Maybe the cable between the base and the lid has gone bad.

You don't say how old the computer is. Many laptops a decade ago had trouble with faulty graphics chip-to-motherboard-connections because of new soldering methods being introduced. This did not always show itself for some time. If this is the case with yours, an external monitor connected to the laptop will not work either. If that's the case, the computer is toast.

I had a similar problem with my Dell laptop last month. I started to boot it and, 'oh no' the blue screen of death popped up. Since the battery is concealed inside, I got brave and unscrewed the back cover to disconnect the battery and totally shut it down. But, I couldn't undo the connector.

Next step was to head to the Geek Squad at Best Buy on a hope and a prayer. Great timing, no one ahead of me in line. A service tech asked about my issue and I described what happened. She then simply held the power switch down for about 30 seconds or so and amazingly, the laptop booted and has been great ever since.

So, something you might try is simply holding down the power button for about 30 seconds.

Good luck

Are you getting a lot of crazy blinking? That happened on my Dell. The graphics card had died, which meant replacing the mother board, basically the cost of a new computer. Considering the age of the computer, I bought a new one. It might be worthwhile taking it somewhere to have it hooked up for a diagnosis.
