Just curious, anyone on here use Really Right Stuff photography products? They are moving their manufacturing to just a few miles from me and I am looking at applying for a job they have that perfectly fits my skills.

I am keeping my new year’s resolution. I read 4 pages of comments before I offered mine. I have used their L-plates on four different cameras, have two of there ball heads and modified another of my ball-heads by replacing the clamp with a RRS lever release clamp. Also bought other products from them. I usually cal in my orders which saved me from ordering the wrong size. They have been great to deal with, so I would assume they are a great company to work for. Let us know if you get a job there and what your specialty is. Good lick.

Reading up on RSS I think it's a good company, the kind I wish there are more of. However, it seems that they do run into some problems. Ownership changed hands and they moved their factory to reduce labor cost. It's just not a good sign.

RRS wisely moved their company out of California, so they could continue to be profitable, make great products, and pay their employees. Many companies are leaving California due to excessive taxation, and regulations, that is a very good sign for other states.

I have RRS equipment and it is expensive. But what is important to me is when I have called I get an individual who is personable and knows his product line and I get an answer. If they are typical of the employees, it is a great company with good people.

Anyone with knowledge of the Cost of Living in SLO would quickly understand the necessity of moving. Ownership did change hands, but that was some 15+ years ago. IMHO, the new owners have made the great company even better. Many companies have moved out of California, in whole or in part, due to the simple fact that they could not attract enough great employees to want to live there. I would love to live in SLO, but simply couldn't afford it. Seems to me to be a very good move for the company and its employees. I have not seen any problems, either before or after the move. Best of luck.

Been using their brackets and quick release mounts for a couple of decades, and one of their ball heads for a year or two - all are outstanding gear and a pleasure to use. Not in answer to your question but perhaps of interest to others, I bought a Kirk L-bracket some time back and have found it to be similarly excellent (and pricey).

They are always my first call after buying a new camera or lens. Have been using their products as long as I can remember. They continue to impress me from thoughtful design, quality of manufacture and finish, as well as consistent customer service. I sell manufacturing equipment and have always wanted to see their facility. Some day I will. Say hi to Shane.
Best of luck.

I accidentally discovered a method to satisfy management. When an L bracket arrive and she asked “What did you order now?” I answered, “A gadget for the camera” and showed it to her. And she dropped her interest. I assume she thought that can’t cost more than $10. Worked for an ball head as well.

Good luck with the job. If you get hired please check on whether you can declare all UHH members as family for any possible family discounts for their excellent products.

Wouldn’t that be nice?!!! My first thought when I read the original post was “Do employees get a discount?”

To the OP, good luck with the job!

Pretty funny. My husband doesn’t even ask “how much did THAT cost?” anymore. When a box from B&H or Adorama arrives, he just hands it to me and says, “camera stuff”. I haven’t ordered anything from RRS yet; but I’m sure I could now!!

If you haven't already done so, why wait...go for it. Maybe they will give you a discount on the their products.
