T M Goodwin Marsh

Quiet day so decided to take a drive to the T M Goodwin Marsh and see the happenings going on. The Goodwin Marsh is in East Central Florida near the famous 'Stick Marsh' in Fellsmere, one of the best bass fishing areas in the country and along with Blue Cypress Lake, its the headwaters of the St Johns River. A very large area (6,720 acres) its primarily traveled by car on dikes with numerous trails interspersed and only opened for vehicular two days a week. The Marsh was previously operated as a cattle ranch and other activities such as row crops and citrus. Wetland management has have restored a majority of the native vegetation. Its also considered some of the best duck hunting on the east coast or so they say.

However since it was midday, not a lot of activity but the White Pelicans were definitely there in force. One spot in particular near the entrance to the marsh is a rookery for the Roseate Spoonbill and early morning hundreds can been seen scattered about in the adjacent trees and bushes.

Loved the series, Blaster and really enjoyed double-clicking the panos of the pelicans and scanning all the way across them.
