This place is awesome. One of those places you gotta be there to appreciate the grandeur. The engineering at the time to do this speaks volumes of their dedication.

An especially nice photo of the site. Thanks for posting!
Great capture. Every time I see Mt. Rushmore I get goose bumps thinking about these four great Presidents and the trials and tribulations they had gone through. Mahalo for sharing.
I've been there 3 times and I think I'd go there again. I remember being stunned years back when a co-worker told me he didn't think all that much of Mt. Rushmore. Everybody's different I guess.

How many have paid any attention to the pile of rock under the faces? I wonder if the pile was supposed to be carted off when the faces and room behind the faces were finished? If shows how much rock was removed during the carving phase.

Great capture! We were there in 2012 and it was better than our expectations. The area is also beautiful, much more so than our expectations. I would love to go back, this time with my DSLR; the previous trip was two cameras ago with a 6 MP Canon bridge/superzoom.
