Hi
I'm expecting delivery of a new Fujifilm 55-200mm lens tomorrow.
Can anyone tell me of their experience with this lens?

My experience is that I want one. It’s the next major purchase I’m saving for.

I find it curious that you would order a lens....then ask for user comments.

Just sayin

I'm always amazed at how many people buy photo equipment, and THEN ask for the opinions of others, about that purchase.. kinda like putting the cart before the horse. I know, cuz I've done it more than once myself.. Also, it's kinda like an attempt to let the world know that it WILL-BE yours' soon, so lets talk about/celebrate it now. I just happen to have the 55-200mm fuji, myself. It's very good, but one caviat, , and the company told me that they have the CREEP problem fixed......NOPE!! get a wide rubber wrist band, problem solved. Maybe they did deal with creeping, and that was after mine from seven months ago. It is not a problem worth sending it back (not for me) but you decide for yourself. The lens seems "PERFECT" to me, other wise. I'm anxious to see what others have to say about their 55 to 200 fujis.

Sometimes you order something and then have second thoughts lol - I understand ;) I am wanting to get this lens for myself. I rented one and absolutely love it - waiting to get a used one at Dury's when one comes available. (I have a credit there) The one I rented did not have any problems with lens creep.

If you want to see some pics I took with the 55-200 when I rented it, look in my topics under "bee and such"
I was quite pleased with the first outing - only had it 3 days.

I too have this lens and yes, it does creep. I have a rubber band on it. I love this lens. It is on my camera 90% of the time. If I do my part, it does its (grammar?).

I have used this lens on X-T1 and X-T2 cameras and find it to be razor sharp; produces excellent images. Hope you enjoy yours.

Using it along with 18-55 on XE2s. Like the lens very much, IQ is excellent, very sharp, focusing is pretty fast. No creeping.

I have the 55-200 paired with my X-T2 & 18-55 as a travel kit. My experience with the lens, and the kit as a whole, has been outstanding. The lens provides sharp, well balanced images that are easily blown up to 13x19 (my printer’s max). The lens provides basically the same IQ at its available settings as my fixed aperture 2.8 zooms on my D500 (Tamron 24-70/2.8 G2 & Nikkor 80-200/2.8), but, as the variable aperture notes, it is not as fast at all settings and slowest at its longest setting.

IMHO, Fuji has done a great job of providing very high IQ while truncating the aperture options. Many marques do not offer high IQ on their limited aperture lenses. I suspect you will be quite pleased with your new lens.

I have used this lens for 7 months now. It has become my walk around. In over 50 years doing photography, I have never found a zoom lens that produces this type of image quality. It is also quite light. I suspect you will fall in love with this lens.

This was one of my first Fuji X series lenses and one of the reasons why I eventually switched from Nikon to an all Fuji system. It is reasonably priced, sharp, compact and nearly indestructible. (I accidentally dropped it 3-feet onto a hardwood floor.) I once did a direct comparison with my Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 and found it to be as sharp at f/8 and very close at f/5.6 up to about 180mm. And at 200mm it’s still extremely good for printing 17x22” prints. While selling all my Nikon gear allowed me to invest in nearly all the X lenses, including the spectacular 50-140 f/2.8, the 55-200 is still my go-to lens for travel or hiking. You’ve made a good decision.

I love this lens. I carry this and the 10-24mm as my two go-to lenses. The 55-200mm is on the camera 75% of the time. Last night I caught the moon rising with this lens. 135mm, f7.1, ISO 500, SS 1/500. A little adjustment in Luminar 3 to darken the sky and put a orange tint on the moon's face. Since I'm still learning my camera (X-T3) and lenses, this will keep me happy for a long time. I highly recommend this lens.

Love your moon image! I have this lens as well. At first I was a little disappointed in it but then I make some camera setting changes and I really have to say that I love it. It's a good lens for video as well. It's on my camera most of the time as well although I do have the 23 mm and 35 mm lens. I have had good results will all those lenses.
