Has anyone out there had the AA/low pass filter removed & has it helped getting sharper more detailed images

For that reason, no! High & Low Pass and AA filters removed to create an Infrared Red Converted camera, yes. Yes, in theory the AA filter reduces resolution but the normal UV & IR filters are needed for correct color rendition (white balance) of "normal" images. A camera designed and made with no AA is another story. I have one of those too.
Yes, my older IR camera seems sharper than it should be for an old CCD (not CMOS) 6MP sensored camera!

I have a D800 37mp FF with an AA filter. The D800E is the exact same camera without the AA filter. Have read several reviews with comparisons and the E version is minutely sharper. You are definitely in pixel peeping territory. I still use the D800 when I am having aliasing problems that sometimes come with fabrics with fine lined patterns or some shirts or tops and some slacks. So, no, I won't look into having it taken out. I find it useful.
