First this is not a photoshop trick, unfortunately its not a very good picture either. I was photographing the finch and sparrow color change when this very unusual fellow flew in. In the first picture he/she is nearly out of frame and did not stay long enough for me to focus on him. In, grab a seed and gone, leaving me to wonder, did I see what I thought I saw.
On the off chance I had a new visitor I continued to watch for the rest of the day, neglecting to make progress on the honey do list. (There is a direct relationship between delays due to photography and agreement on new lens purchases )
The name Bald Finch is a little tongue and cheek, the bird identification groups on Flicker state " partial albino house finch" really partial albino?
center focus on the male house finch when on the far left

some motion blur and focus issues resulting from camera movement to attempt capture. This day he was just to fast for me My day will come.

I don't have a feeder but we do get a number of interesting birds in our area of Colorado that often drive me to the "books" to identify them. Good catch.... now, if you're anything like me, you'll drive yourself half bonkers looking to spot him/her again. And don't forget to tell your camera to focus on the birds not the board!!
Well done! Mama Nature doesn't wait for us photographers, does she??
You are so right 47greyfox my focus does seem to be off in both pictures. Intent on doing one thing when something else intervenes . Opportunity knocked and found me wanting, but there will other days.

No she does not. Thank you insman1132 and I might add if I carefully plan and wait for another opportunity, she will throw me a curve ball.

Right you are jwm1944, because it occurs on the head often refereed to as Piebald leucistic or just piebald (so I learned yesterday in my research) . Thanks for viewing my bad photo, leucistic is a new term (to me)/ condition I learned about just yesterday.

Hey troutbum lets go with that, its the fresh white paint that makes my finch look blury not my poor photography.

I don't view everyone's pictures looking for perfection, only the content.
Very nice catch and I saw a junco with much white on its head last year but did not manage to get an image of it!
