I truly appreciate the suggestions, Bill. That's exactly how I do it when using a tripod. I put the remote in my left hand. I've worked around this issue with my DSLR's. When zooming the Sony beyond 300 mm, I can't hold sufficiently still and activate the shutter - shake shake, shake!!! = blur, blur, blur!!! It is not life threatening, just a bit annoying. I'll post my experience with the new hand strap. I'm hopeful!!

If it is the movement of the finger on the camera that causes the shake, why won't it work using the remote with the other hand, even hand held? Or is holding the camera with one hand the true problem? Not clear on what causes the shaking.

That does work, providing I’m using the tripod to hold & support the camera. I’m looking for stability while hand holding the camera.Tri or monopod is not always possible. Thanks for the response. If you read all my responses, you may have a better picture of my issue and ideas that may help.

S'cuse me sir, I lost my head there for a minute. I have one other option I have used some but only acquired it recently. In combo, they work pretty well and are very flexible in the adjustments. The shoulder support is rigid and trustworthy and the remote is the best I've found for a dslr but I haven't tested it with a rx10. If you don't object to strangers gawking at you with a look on their face that's just begging to ask, "what's that dork doing," the shoulder harness could let you be one-handed and the free hand could use this remote which is one of the few I've found that allows control of the zoom and even the menu and shoots both still and video. You can see what all it allows you to control as opposed to just being able to fire the trigger. Now, with all due respect for my elders I'm going to give it a rest. I hope you're able to solve the dilemma to your satisfaction. Happy Birthday and Happy New Year.

Thanks for the response. I will be trying that. It may be a partial solution. I like the "sticky" idea!

Hey Mark, here is the set of sticky pads I bought. The small (6mm x 2mm) half spheres fit the buttons on the back of the RX10 perfectly.

Good luck on finding a solution that works for you!

Have you considered buying the Arsenal device? If you don’t know about it, take a look. If they put out a Fiji version I’ll buy it in a minute. Very surprising and cool.

Have you tried some kind of pistol grip? You hold the camera with your left hand and also “pull the trigger with your left . I don’t know of any brand etc, but my old Nikon F2 had that grip, which made it very easy to hold the camera steady.
Just a suggestion! Good luck😊

Truly appreciate the suggestion & link. I’ve bookmarked it and I’m open to the gwaky look if my other options don’t work.

Happy Birthday my friend. Thanks

I have the somewhat the same problem I have about 4 seconds to focus and shoot-I'm seeing if the slr's shoot better than the mirrorless which use the LCD screen which seems to take longer to focus and to shoot. Not much but enough for the 3 seconds I need to get the picture.I use a remote trigger also with a tripod for birds which works best -again I have about 3-4 seconds before my tremor starts so I have the camera pre-focused on the feeder and also use the left hand for shooting that. I have about 3 seconds and hold the sony rx100 in the left hand and wait till the last second to push the shutter with the rt. index finger-if I hold the camera with the rt. hand the shake gets to be too much. It's a pain but I still enjoy my photography and also shoot at high shutter speeds and use vr with my lenses . Try supporting the camera with the left hand until pushing the shutter quickly with the right finger. I find I have a second or so to make adjustments with my rt finger between shakes. Hope this might help some. Oh yes I have Parkensons also-

Sounds as if you have creatively solved the tremor/shake well enough to continue to enjoy photography. I seldom use the LCD screen.
Thanks for the response/feedback
Keep shooting!! I will too!!

I am leaning more on my smaller cameras-am able to accomplish my goals with less gear-I think one can shoot manual and get quality shots easier and use the left hand more. whoops hit add attachment too many times-RX 100 sony hand held-

Perhaps a mono pod would help. You could also use it horizontally against a tree or post. Good luck.

I have found that using my middle finger second pad (behind the tip) has been much more steady for me. Trying to remember that is another challenge.
