I only have a few specimens at this time so my selection is somewhat limited so I am doing different views and magnifications of them.
This is one of my many Woodlouse. They are quite plentiful under rotted timber and easy to catch. There have been several others posted in the past and many more that were quite handsome. I'm getting practice with my camera stand and my goal is to get the subject to fill the frame.
I used a 4x Plan finite microscope objective with 68mm of extension tubes for this shot. Illumination was provided by the LED lamps and my favorite translucent plastic drink cup (gives me a reason to order a vodka and grapefruit juice at the bowling alley).
Thanks for the feedback. I'm toying with different techniques, hardware and a lot of trial and error so it's nice to know if others here think that I'm on the right track.
Looks terrific. Just a basic question: Is there a very tight range in how close/far you can get? This one is partly out of frame, and being able to back off a bit would be good.
