This is a booster cell made by Leica for the shoe mounted selenium meters. The meter is a model MC (selenium) and not the later model MR meters. It does make electrical connection with the meter. It can also be used for incident measurements by applying the diffuser. I own one for my Leica M3. It's worth about $20.

Correction: That is a MBOOW/16018 Booster Cell for the earlier Leicameter-M and not the Leicameter-MC. It appears the incident light attachment was sold separately as METRIL/16218.

Wow thats pretty specific.
I Google searched That (MBOOW/16018 Booster Cell) with no result.
Did you see the original photos at the beginning of the article ?

Yes I saw the pictures. I looks almost identical to my booster cell for the MC. Look on eBay for Leicameter booster cells.

Thank you so much. That's a great find.

But, I have no idea why my deceased brother had a Leica accessory since he was into so much good stuff: Hasselblad, Nikon, Alpa, & Rolleiflex, but not Leica.

"Wow and I thought the built in selenium meter on my first SLR (Praktica LB2) was behind the times...this looks like something out of a 50s sci-fi movie.... "

Just wait until 2025 and someone will comment about your current most modern gadgets as a 2019 Sci Fi movie

I can't say that Alps didn't have a similar one. I don't have a picture of the Leica booster for the Meter M. I own a Leicameter MC and the booster. Yours is very similar so I guess I shouldn't be as positive as I was. It's certainly possible Alps had a similar meter.

Yes my meter on my Alpa is for the Alpa, but the incident attachment and the black box (booster) of this discussion may be Leica. The incident milky glass is too large for the Alpa meter.

Silverman, look at the size of it. Check the initial photos and the one with the incident cover with the Alp camera. No films made that small. Unfortunately no manufactures name on it, just Made in Germany; thats another surprize; after WW2 it would have been: Made in West Germany. It does not look like an item from before WW2.
