Great start, and thanks for hosting this challenge, Kat. I know with all the
"birders" on UHH, you may be in for a record number of responses. I, too,
am looking forward to what everyone shares.

I've only every tried "BIF" images once, as witnessed below. Mediocre
success at best, but it was fun.

Unfortunately, all the other images I have of birds are of those in
captivity....
Tim

You've done better than I did..lol

Just around our house. All the birds are wild and we do not feed them.

Looks good to me, Lesley. With out a doubt, you and I need some
practice, but I think we can stand tall for the first time around!

Thanks for the compliment my friend!
(Anytime my images even come close to
the quality of yours, I'm happy!)

Beautiful captures, Richard! The birds are gorgeous, but your
treatment of them is flat out perfect!

Thanks, it is very easy when you don't even have to step outside the house (sometimes), and possibly scare them away, even though we live in suburbia and they are used to people.

That's much better than my first attempts at BIF.

Thank you very much, Richard. I had just gotten a new lens (Canon
EFS 55-250 IS STM) and a 1.4x extender and wanted to try them
out on my 60D (crop) camera. If my math is correct, at full zoom,
I was pushing about 560mm.

I've since trashed the cheap-o XPix extender because of the huge
distortion around the edges.

Some of my favorite photographic subjects are birds--backyard birds, water fowl and more exotic birds, at the feeders or in flight. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my pictures of these wonderful creatures and am really looking forward to seeing all of your great bird pics.
To start with some backyard visitors to my Santa Fe house:

I like 1 and 2 most Kat.
