Most opinions regarding teleconverters are usually negative: More so with the 2X than the 1.4X.
These shots were made with a Sony A65 and a 70-300mm G zoom lens plus the teleconverter. I was satisfied with the results of this purchase.
First image is at 70mm lens setting and the second at 300mm. Lighting was ambient incandescent room lighting.
Not bad at all, especially considering the price of a 600mm lens. It seems that 1.4 converters give pretty good results, but going to 2.0 can be iffy. I have a Kenko 1.4, and that works fine.
You must be a map collector? The images looks fine to me too.
Your EXIF says something totally different. I wonder why?

The teleconverter 5 passthrough pins do not do well with my 8 pin camera. Auto focusing is also negated due to the lens' f4.5 largest aperture.
