Amazing HDR

The first photo is a shot across my front yard at dawn. The bottom photo is the result of HDR, combining three images (-3, normal, +3). Accomplished with the D600, burst bracketing, handheld. Images were combined in the Affnity Photo application.

Burst bracketing, handheld, very impressive.

How much noise was introduced? Is the end result a Jpeg? I have never tried my in camera HDR. I can see where it might be handy though. Thanks for posting.

I didn't see much evidence of added noise (download the image and check). The in-camera HDR has been a disappointment (Nikon D600 - and others). And Affinity Photo ($49!) does a marvelous job of combining images and accomplishing the necessary tone-mapping.

Ah I made assumptions :) I see now. The difference after Affinity is impressive.

Phil, this is interesting but can be accomplished with exposure and one exposure.

No, Bob. Not in instances when the tonal range exceeds the capability of film or sensor to capture detail across that range.

I might agree with the blanket statement, but this particular example is not one that needs HDR.
